AKC/USA Dogs Win at Crufts Agility Competitions

Crufts, hosted by The Kennel Club in England, is one of the largest dog events in the world. Held from March 6-9 in Birmingham, England, spectators enjoyed a conformation dog show, agility, obedience, flyball, heelwork to music, a canine shopping mall and much more.

Several AKC agility competitors had great success in the Agility competitions at Crufts.

Maryland residents Rosanne DeMascio and her three-year-old Border Collie “Strafe” represented AKC in the International Agility Competition, which is open to Large dogs jumping 26″. The pair was selected because they were the highest placing Large Dog from the AKC European Open and World Teams at the two International competitions.

Rosanne and Strafe WON the Jumping Class, placed 5th in Agility Class and made it to the Final Round.

Desiree Snelleman (from Washington) and her Border Collie “Pace” were the only non-British dog to compete in the British Open and they won their Jumping Class. The pair won their way into the competition via the International Festival held last summer in England.

Daneen Fox and her Papillon “Masher” (from California) competed in the Small Dog Singles class. They qualified for the class by earning points at Kennel Club shows last summer.  They WON their Jumping class and were invited into the Final Round, which they also won!

“Daneen and Masher were so fast that the announcer, who is never at a loss for words, stumbled some trying to describe their spectacular run,” said AKC Director of Agility Carrie DeYoung.

Congratulations on the great showing, Team AKC/USA!
