Club Spotlight: Trap Falls Kennel Club

The Trap Falls Kennel Club, located in Connecticut, is a group of dog lovers very dedicated to educating their local community about responsible dog ownership. An article appeared recently in The Shelton Herald outlining the club’s good works in providing “information about dog training, etiquette, safety and obedience to dog owners in Fairfield and New Haven counties.”

In addition to the group’s regular training classes, Canine Good Citizen testing and Therapy Dog International testing, some of the organization’s recent outreach projects include:

-       A visit to the Multicultural Magnet School in Bridgeport, Connecticut with the club’s Doggie Safety program. The program teaches young students about dog behavior, how to act safely around dogs and more. Club members also brought dogs to demonstrate obedience and meet the kids.

-       Sending supplies to canine units in Afghanistan in partnership with the U.S. Tennis Association’s Tennis to the Troops program.

-       Donations to the Animal Care and Control Center on Staten Island in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.  Trap Falls KC

The club is also planning an AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day event for September 15th in Ansonia, Connecticut. A variety of activities will be offered, including police dog, Canine Good Citizen and agility demos; a parade of breeds; Meet the Breeds; a microchipping clinic; Canine Good Citizen testing; contests for Best Dressed Dog and Best Trick; vendors and raffles; a pet photographer, and more! Great job, Trap Falls KC!
